Two nights after the worst game of his short NBA career, Yaxel Lendeborg had his best one. The rookie forward scored a career-high 37 points on 13-of-19 shooting as the Golden State Warriors beat the LA Clippers 124-112 on Sunday. Golden State rested Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, and the win was its fourth in a row, according to the Associated Press.

Lendeborg made 6 of 11 three-pointers and 5 of 6 free throws, and he added six assists, four rebounds and a steal in 34 minutes. He turned the ball over only twice. USA TODAY Sports noted that the line came right after Friday's win over the Lakers. In that game he scored six points with one rebound and five turnovers before fouling out in 24 minutes. He called it the "worst game of my life" and gave Golden State's depth the credit for carrying the team that night.

CBS Sports reported that Lendeborg scored 24 of his points across the second and third quarters. He has now scored at least 26 points in four of his last five games. According to the AP, he hit five straight points in the middle of the third quarter to give the Warriors an 83-68 lead, their largest of the night up to then. He has two 30-point games in his first seven. The AP said Wilt Chamberlain and Rick Barry are the only other Warriors to do that, and both are in the Hall of Fame.

With Curry and Green out, the offense ran through the rookie, and the result showed the team can win without its two longest-tenured stars. Rui Hachimura led the Clippers with 24 points and Kobe Sanders scored 16 off the bench. The Clippers have now lost five straight.

What it means for Phoenix on Monday

The Warriors (team page) are 4-3 after losing three of their first four games. The streak started with a 134-114 win at Denver, followed by a 119-114 win at Minnesota and the 112-95 home win over the Lakers before Sunday. Their scoring has stayed high throughout. They have reached at least 112 points in each of the four wins.

The Suns visit on Monday, November 2, the second night of a back-to-back for Golden State. Phoenix is the last team to beat the Warriors, 131-122 at home on October's road trip. That was one of three straight losses to open the season. The game will show whether Lendeborg's production holds up with Curry and Green presumably back in the lineup and on short rest.
