The Golden State Warriors fell behind by 11 in the first quarter, then outshot the LA Clippers from three for the rest of Sunday night and won 124-112 at Chase Center. Yaxel Lendeborg scored 37 points, and Golden State made 22 threes to the Clippers' 14.

That gap from deep was the game. Twenty-two threes is 66 points. The Clippers' 14 came to 42. Los Angeles won the paint 48-44 and the free-throw line 18-19 against 10-14, and still lost by 12.

The win is Golden State's fourth in a row and moves the team to 4-3 after an 0-3 start. The Clippers fall to 1-5.

How it was won

The first quarter belonged to Los Angeles. The Clippers scored 37 and led 37-29 after 12 minutes, and their largest lead of the night, 11, came in that stretch.

The second quarter turned it. Golden State outscored the Clippers 34-20 and went to the half up 63-57, a 14-point swing in one period. The Warriors kept the margin steady after that, winning the third 29-28 to lead 92-85, then the fourth 32-27. Their largest lead reached 22 before the Clippers trimmed it late.

Lendeborg was the engine. He scored 37 on 6-of-11 from three and added 6 assists and 4 rebounds. De'Anthony Melton gave him the help he needed off the ball, scoring 21 on 6-of-8 shooting from three, with 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Brandin Podziemski filled the rest of the box: 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists, though he made only 2 of 7 threes.

As a team Golden State shot 46-of-86 (53 percent) and assisted on 32 of those 46 baskets. The Clippers shot 40-of-91 (44 percent) with 22 assists. Turnovers were close, 15 for the Warriors and 14 for Los Angeles, and Golden State won the glass 44-42.

Rui Hachimura led the Clippers with 24 points and 7 rebounds, going 4-of-7 from three. Kobe Sanders added 16 on 4-of-6 shooting from deep. Darius Garland had 15 points and 7 assists but made only 1 of his 7 threes, and outside Hachimura and Sanders the Clippers went 6-of-26 from three.

Against the number

Golden State closed as a 1.5-point favorite and won by 12, a comfortable cover. The moneyline closed at Warriors -130 and Clippers +110, so the favorite paid.

The total closed at 220.5, and 236 points went up, clearing the over by 15.5. The pace was there from the start: the first quarter alone produced 66 points. Combined, the two teams attempted 88 threes, and the Warriors' 66 points from deep did most of the work toward the over.

What's next

There is no rest for Golden State. The Warriors host the Phoenix Suns on Monday, November 2, the second night of a back-to-back, with the game on NBA League Pass, Suns Live and Arizona's Family 3TV. Phoenix beat Golden State 131-122 earlier in the season, one of the three losses that opened the year, so Monday is a chance to settle that and stretch the streak to five.

The Clippers' next game was not in the material we have. At 1-5, they head into it needing more than one quarter of their best basketball.
