Klay Thompson comes back to Chase Center on Thursday night riding the best shot of his career. The Golden State Warriors have won five straight, and Thompson's new Miami team stands in the way of a sixth.

On Wednesday, Thompson scored 30 points in Miami's 117-116 overtime win over the Clippers in Inglewood. He shot 8-of-17 from three, according to CBS Sports, and has now made at least four threes in three straight games after a cold preseason. Miami came back from 20 down, and Thompson won it from the left corner with a three off a Giannis Antetokounmpo pass. SB Nation noted it was the first walk-off three of his career, counting regular season and playoffs. Andrew Wiggins, a 2022 champion with Golden State, is also coming back with the Heat. Miami starts Davion Mitchell, Thompson, Wiggins, Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.

There is one catch: SB Nation lists Thompson's status as uncertain. The Clippers game was the first half of a back-to-back and Miami's third game in four nights, while Golden State comes in with two days of rest.

The Warriors have changed a lot since their 0-3 start. They beat the Nuggets and Timberwolves on the road, then the Lakers, Clippers and Suns at home. They won the Clippers game without Stephen Curry or Draymond Green, and on Monday they came back from 17 down to beat Phoenix.

What it means for Thursday

Golden State is 5-3 and has scored at least 112 points in each game of the streak, topping out at 134 in Denver. Miami lost its first four games and has won three of four since, which puts it at 3-5. The Heat's perimeter defense looks like the weak spot. SB Nation cites figures ranking Miami last in the league in opponent threes made (17.1 per game) and opponent three-point percentage (40.5 percent). Curry has been averaging about 30 points a night.

The matchup that could hurt Golden State is inside. The Warriors start Green at center and rookie Yaxel Lendeborg at forward. They will face Antetokounmpo and an Adebayo who just put up season highs of 35 points and 10 rebounds. Miami has been getting close to 20 points a game at the free-throw line, so Lendeborg will need to defend Antetokounmpo without fouling. Golden State also has to keep him from turning long rebounds into fast breaks.
